Review of Octopussy (1983) by Walker — 08 Nov 2008
CONSENSUS: After a more serious take in FOR YOUR EYES ONLY, the staple campiness of the Moore films returns, but more balanced in tone. An intelligent, Cold War plot and a comfortable, solid (despite his age really showing) performance by Moore make this an enjoyable entry in the series and one of Moore's better ones.
Jourdan is a pleasant villain, while Adams is an unwelcomed return to the Bond series. The film is spotted with overly ridiculous moments of horendous stupidity (such as a Tarzan yell in what could've been an effective jungle hunt scene, as well as others), but it is nonetheless light fun.
MY GRADE: B.
