Review of Octopussy (1983) by James F — 22 Mar 2011
Octopussy, starring Roger Moore's stunt double, and co-starring Roger Moore! This Eon Production's answer to the current Indianna Jones Hype at the time - put 007 in India and have him fighting the Russians whose Uniforms are oddly similar to Nazis. The only problem is that Moore is 56 years old, and can't even be allowed to throw a single punch without his stunt double coming in.The double should've gotten paid triple what Moore was offered, as Moore just said some things and went home. The plotline is nonexistant: a priceless egg is stolen, and if the bad guy gets it, he'll get rich. The action scenes had potential, but ultimately all fell flat - The train battle had so much potential: platforming and dodging throwing knives, but just fell flat in an attempt to please children.
Pros.
+ Moore's Stunt Double Kicks butt for the most part.
+ Octopussy's Circus, and all of its beautiful performers.
Cons.
- Action scenes are of very low quantity and very low quality.
- Too cartoony.
- Moore too damn old.
