You know, I don't know if it deserves five stars for movie-making, but I'm giving it five stars anyway ... for the exploration of the father-son relationship, for raising questions about how men deal with their often conflicting family/job roles, for the inspiration to follow dreams, for Laura Dern as the teacher who won't give up on her students even if it means standing up to the principal.
My daughter wants to be an astronomer, just like I did when I was her age, but I plan on giving her the encouragement I didn't get. So I suggested we watch this together, and I think she'd give it a thumbs-up, too.
