Review of October Sky (1999) by Logan S — 02 Jan 2009
I don't know what it is about this film, but if I have to answere the impossible question what is you favourite movie, this is my pick. And I don't even know why! I just know it pushes all the right buttons for me.
It might be the actors, (this is where I first fell in love with Jake Gyllenhaal and I'm not sure I ever fell out) it might be the story itself, it might be the directors style but whatever it is, something is magical about this one.
I loved it since the first time I saw it. It stirs something inside me. It's straightforward, it just tells it's story and simply asks you to listen. And sometimes that's all it takes. Beauty lies in simplicity and so on.
But in the end I guess what makes this film so great to me is that lingering feeling of joy. And that, I will never be able to explain.
