Review of October Baby (2011) by Lanette H — 28 Mar 2012
The moment that I saw the trailer for October Baby I knew that it would be deeply touching to me in so many ways, being a post abortive woman I know all too well the horrors of partial birth abortion and having found out when I was young that my birth father was someone other than the man I called "dad", I doubted who I was and whether I was wanted.
I wasn't disappointed after seeing the movie, it was beautifully compassionate and deeply moving. The actors and actresses portrayed so well the message of the storyline without coming across as condemning or offensive in any way.
I could relate to both the main character and her birth mom. I appreciate that the birth mother was portrayed, not as a monster, but as a completely broken woman and deeply wounded by her decision. The relationship between the young woman and her dad was touching as well as I think of all the love and support I have received from both of my parents over the years.
I'm so thankful that October Baby brings to the BIG screen a movie that doesn't glorify the ugliness of this world but shows the beauty that rises from the ashes. Every Life Is Beautiful...
