Review of Ocean's Twelve (2004) by Manny C — 24 Mar 2011
Ocean's Twelve, the big budget follow up to the 2002 remake Ocean's Eleven, is a huge disappointment. Its predecessor was the epitome of cool, starring George Clooney as Danny Ocean (A role originally played by Frank Sinatra), the charm meister leading a rag tag gang that included Brad Pitt and Matt Damon, with old pros Carl Reiner and Elliot Gould rounding out the cast as wicked scene-stealers, all under the assured direction of Steven Soderbergh.
Ocean's Twelve strains to recreate that sense of cool. Ocean's Twelve has the same great cast, with new Euro locations, but it falls terribly flat. The whole cast, including newcomer Catherine Zeta-Jones, are having a blast, but you can see the effort.
Just not as much fun.
