Review of Ocean's Eight (2018) by David B — 03 Nov 2018
I get the sense that they were in such excitement to make an all female version of this movie that they did not take the time to fully flesh out a story. It's quite a contrived plot line with several major plot holes. (1) Are gala events typically planned 5 years ahead to allow an incarcerated felon to extensively plan a heist with limited exposure to the outside world? (2) magic printer much? Why were the other counterfeit jewels not discovered and invesitgated? I imagine there are similar secruity protocols for those jewels as well (3) head of a security company department clicks random unsolcited email link? Unlikely (4) "cameras covering every square inch" of the building don't capture the lady that found the necklace in the pool actually snatch it from under her dress? (5) iPhones block security cameras in jewel room magically all put in place at the same time as no cameras caught the other cameras being blocked.
I have to go back to watch Oceans 11 to see if the con was this poorly fleshed out and I was just younger and more naive.
