Review of Obvious Child (2014) by Esteban G — 17 Jan 2015
A movie that tackles the issue of abortion in an honest, realistic, way that still manages to be relatable and believable. Jenny Slates wittiness, comedic timing and her ability to be both naive and slightly sophisticated create a character you cheer for but also one you want to hang out with.
The supporting cast was a perfect accompaniment to Slates character, and the romance was just subtle enough to keep the story true to life. Tthe ending was mature, compassionate and unapologetically accurate.
It's honest, brave, often brash, and thoroughly enjoyable.
