Review of Obvious Child (2014) by Amilcar A — 21 Jun 2014

There are so many reasons why I should have disliked this movie. First and foremost it's hipster central so I was already irritated by the music, the wardrobe and the people in the movie theater. Second, it wasn't particularly funny, sexy and there are no robots or explosions.

However, while my expectations were low, the movie made me smile and even laugh a couple of times.

Now, I'm not suggesting this is an Apatow classic or a legendary Eddie Murphy but overall, it's pleasant and funny.

These movies are important because they remind me that not everything has to be a mega production or a snobbish art movie. These movies are films that students could make and they are watchable given their enormous limitations.

Generally positive though I will take a 1/2 star based on having to sit next to a dude with a giant beard.
