Review of Obvious Child (2014) by Emily C — 15 Jan 2015
Absolutely loved it! Jenny Slate is an absolute gem! Yes, some parts in the beginning are extremely awkward, but that is the point of the movie!! it's not supposed to be this idealistic abortion scenario!! The "one night stand" was horrifically (i loved it) awkward, but when you think back to one night stands that some of you may have had, they were horrifically awkward! Some didn't like the fact that the movie did a 180 at the end (in the sense that it wasn't so awkward and they became comfortable around each other) I actually loved that aspect of the movie because it was the basic "Rom Com" plot where they instantly fall in love and have spurts of hilarity spun in to this tired plot.
It was refreshing to see a movie where they don't fall in love at first sight, but fall in love as their bizarre relationship grows. I would highly recommend this movie to any person who wants to laugh out loud, and feel some of the "realness" that this movie brings.
Not two, but THREE thumbs up!
