Review of Obvious Child (2014) by Henry G — 03 Jan 2015
An incredibly hilarious and genuine drama/rom-com story that shows off both Jenny Slate at her grotesquely honest best and director Gillian Robespierre as force to be reckoned with in cinema. I loved the movie for its authentically sweet and funny but mature tone and direction on serious subject matter.
I mean the movie is a comedy about abortion so that takes expert direction to remain tastefully done and here we have a winner. I also of course laughed hysterically at Slate's life observations about Vaginas, pee farting, and much more.
Even though the theatre was filled with a majority of women this rom-coms (I prefer dramedy tho) appeal falls to any obvious adult (get it) who enjoys a real down to earth comedy about unconventional love and life itself.
