Review of O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000) by Wes S — 19 Jun 2011
This is a hilarious offbeat and quirky adaptation of Homer's The Odyssey about three prisoners on a chain gang who escape during the Great Depression. Trying to make their way to a stash of money that Ulysses McGill hid before getting sent to prison, the three escape cons set out on a series of adventures that includes losing one of their number to a witch who turned him into a toad, getting robbed by a bible salesman, recording a hit song that makes them famous, and crashing a KKK lynching party to save one of their own.
One of my absolute favorite comedies.
