Review of Now, Voyager (1942) by Katrina Adrian M — 08 May 2008
Bette Davis plays a shy woman who's life is controlled by her aging mother. The mother tells her daughter how to dress, what food to eat, books to read, and even though she's an adult, she forbids her daughter to date.
Charlotte (Davis) is placed in a sanitarium for having a nervous breakdown. At the hospital she is met by a kind doctor who helps her turn loose of her demanding mother. Charlotte then takes a cruise and meets an older man who is trapped in a unhappy marriage. They have an affair, but their romance cannot be.
