Warped relationship between mother (Gladys Cooper) and daughter (Bette Davis). Great love story between Charlotte & Jerry when they were on the cruise, unfortunately Jerry was married. Davis is amazing in her role as Charlotte/Carlotta Vale.

I found the conversation between Charlotte & Jerry in the final scene disturbing and Charlotte & Tina's relationship reflective of the relationship between Charlotte's mother and her. Charlotte needs Tina to feel better about herself but also has been helping Jerry's daughter TIna so she won't have to cut ties to Jerry and says a line or 2 that is rather disturbing, along the lines that she pretends Tina is her & Jerry's child.

Jerry was correct in the library in the final scene when he said Charlotte needed to move on and Tina was holding her back from having a normal life filled with a man of her own and he should have taken Tina home and away from Charlotte in this Fatal Attractionesque scene.

Jerry never mentioned leaving his wife nor did he ever speak badly about her. Seems Charlotte cares for Jerry more than he cares for her and one could even say that her relationship with Jerry is obsessive and delusional.

This movie takes lots of twists and turns, and I love these classic ship board romance films. I only wish Charlotte found the man she met and fell in love with on the cruise when she was young and fell in love with him on the 2nd cruise rather than getting involved with Jerry and giving up or sorts.

I loved Charlottes line in the final scene; "Oh, Jerry, don't let's ask for the moon. We have the stars,".
