Review of Notes on a Scandal (2006) by Anita L — 25 Jan 2010
Notes on a Scandal is one of the more underrated films of the decade and it's a top notch psychological thriller with two great performances by Judi Dench and Cate Blanchett. The film is calculated manipulation through and through. You might find yourself undecided on who to root for and that's what makes the tension so great. Dench tends to dominate a fair amount of movie, but Blanchett's more subtle performance provides the much needed counter balance.
While it's often overlooked, it might just be might favorite film of 2006. It's fairly slow paced despite it's short running time, but it's a great build up that might be a tad weak with the ending. But not nearly enough to derail the film.
