Review of Notes on a Scandal (2006) by Shawn M — 16 Jan 2009
Scathingly good acting by Cate Blanchett and Judi Dench highlights this film, which proves to be more of a thriller than anything. The film follows the relationship between teacher (Blanchett) and student (Simpson) that is uncovered by a fellow teacher and friend (Dench).
As the film progresses, its more than apparent that Dench has something else on her mind, though, and her way of blackmailing Blanchett by hanging the secret over her head and that of her family becomes increasingly dark and sinister.
There are some incredibly intense moments here, especially when Blanchett and Dench go toe to toe.
