Review of Not Without My Daughter (1991) by Jim M — 11 Aug 2008
1984: An American woman travels with her husband and child to Iran for a 2 week visit with his family...but learns to her horror that he has no intention of bringing them back. Trapped in a strange land, brutalized by her husband she must find a way to escape for her sake and the sake of her child.
Excellent dramitization of a true story. Raised all kinds of hell with the hyper -sensitive and those blinded by political correctness (gasp you dare utter any hint of criticsm of a culture/religion/ect not your own? You sir are worse then Hitler).
Sally Field and Alfred Molina (one of the great unheralded actors of are time) are perfectly cast. Excellent view of life in a Theocratic state, Shiite Iran in this case.
