Review of Not Today (2013) by Brent L — 13 Apr 2013
I watched it yesterday afternoon to a packed house. I had to sit in the front row which is something I NEVER do. Honestly, I wanted to see more of what the theme is supposed to be; human trafficking and yet a lot of the movie was about Caden's journey from spoiled brat to involved and compassionate one.
I also thought his Character arch was more of a spike. The changed just suddenly happened. I appreciated the honesty of his musing that God wasn't listening and was not involved. I'm glad the house was packed and that this message is getting out.
I hope to see more movies along this line. Choosing India has a big short-coming: it reinforces the idea to spoiled America that this stuff is really only happening in 3rd world countries from which we are far removed.
I must say also that the movie "Human Trafficking" with Mira Sorvino and Donald Sutherland did a fabulous job of bringing this horrible reality home to the USA and revealed a much more troubling but to the point reality for me.
