Review of Nostalgia for the Light (2010) by Scout L — 16 Jan 2011
It could have been so great! but unfortunately it's mainly sentimental blah. it seems like the director was so much in love with his idea of drawing parallels between the stars and the world and history that he forgot to actually listen to the actual people he was actually interviewing! they had such interesting things to say but the film just kept rolling back to the film-makers ideas.
at least the title is appropriate: it is an utterly nostalgic film that doesn't go anywhere in the course of its very long 90 minutes. first it made me sad and then it started getting on my nerves.
a pity as the subject and idea seemed so interesting!
