Love his work or loathe it, you can not fault herzog's attention to detail which makes for a highly unusual atmospheric treat full of stunning images. the film manages to be both reverential & innovative and is a triumph in those departments.
kinski divides opinion in a similar fashion to the director and manages to pull off a sympathetic portrayal of the count, which still manages to chill (kinski freaks me out anyway.) like so many of herzog's films I don't really know what it is about 'nosferatu' that I enjoy & admire so much, I think it must be something to do with the care invested in every scene.
I would like to know how many rats were used, flooding off the ghost ship to run wild in Wismar - & how many they managed to re-capture.
