Review of Nosferatu the Vampyre (1979) by Joseph R — 04 Sep 2010
Not as good as the original but still very impressive. The dialogue takes a away a lot of the mystery and Kinski's impressive theatricality is a bit redundant in the sound era.I liked the departure from the usual damsel in distress story.
Lucy here does a lot more than feinting; she actually sacrifices herself to destroy Nosferatu. The acting feels dated and a bit annoying but the star here is the scenery which dictates the mood of every scene.
The castle is more creepy than Nosferatu himself.Watch this if you don't feel like watching the silent and superior version.
