Along with "Silence of the Lambs," the original 1922 "Nosferatu" is the best horror film that I have ever seen! This is the film that catapulted the "vampire horror" subgenre, and even to this day is a fascinating work of art.

Thomas Hutter (played by Gustav von Wangenheim) visits a new client named Orlok (Max Schreck), but what he do...esn't know is that Orlok is really a vampire, and is determined to satisfy his hunger for human blood.

The orchestral track that plays throughout the whole film (because it's silent) is haunting and well-composed. The environments and cinematography are as beautiful as they are uninviting. Max Schreck is such a horrifying presence in the movie that you almost feel that he is coming out of the screen to get you (especially in the scene where his silhouette is climbing the stairs, or when he's slowly creeping in on Hutter).

Because the film is in public domain, it is very easy to find. A part of my "Personal Gold Collection," "Nosferatu" is a film that stands the test of time, and then some.
