The book was good and explained a lot of what happened in the film - the film though not so indepth was largely enjoyable. It brought to life the characters and how their lives interweaved. On its own (without reading the book) it was a good film.
The subtitles though detracted something from the film but I still enjoyed it. The first of Murakami's books I have seen as a film.
