Review of North by Northwest (1959) by Dustin J — 23 Oct 2010
Director: Alfred Hitchock.
Writer: Ernest Lehman.
Mains: Cary Grant, Eva Marie Saint, and James Mason.
My wives divorced me! They said I live a dull life!
Synopsis: Roger Thornhill is into advertising and he incidentally gets is identity mixed up with a person that doesn't exist. Now in a mix up with the wrong type of people he has to prove his innocents and outrun these people that are trying to kill him. To make matters worse a woman gets involved and really turns on the heat for this hard working middle aged man.
My Take: Who said Alfred Hitchock was the king of Suspense? Well who ever said it needs a lifetime pass to the playboy mansion. This movie is the pinnacle of thrillers/suspense its simply amazing. Alfred Hitchock used a great combination of actors/actresses, amazing camera work, and a thrilling score. Everything is like fine wine! From the beginning to the end I was entertained. This movie seems like it started the whole BOND era.
Conclusion: Whatever hype of positive rumors you've heard of this movie is probably true. This movie is amazing and in a league of its own. You can truly see the effect this has had on modern thrillers. Its truly were it started (Until I see a movie that was made before this one that has the same effect on me.). Everyone is adorable especially Eva Marie Saint, I was damn near drooling whenever she was on the screen. This movie comes with my Highest Recommendation.
Highly Recommended.
