Review of North by Northwest (1959) by Eric S — 15 Apr 2012
4 - Alfred Hitchcock's classic suspense thriller has the right quota of humour and action to make it a lively, fun experience. Cary Grant is mistaken by another man by a gang of criminals, who chase him cross country.
Eve Marie Saint aids him, but whose side is she really on? Main highlight has to be the famous crop-duster attack scene, but plenty of well mounted scenes and set pieces. Mount Rushmore climax is also famous, but looks dated, and is let down by an ending that comes too abruptly.
Dazzling score by Bernard Herrmann.
