Review of North by Northwest (1959) by Stephen E — 01 Dec 2012
The first forty or so minutes of "North by Northwest" are substantially more compelling and surprising than what the rest of the film has to offer, but it is nevertheless an engaging action thriller that's complete with many tense scenarios and memorable moments.
Cary Grant turns in a pretty standard performance here and James Mason makes a formidable, snake-like villain, and even if the ending is a little dicey, "North by Northwest" is a true classic.
