Review of Norma Rae (1979) by Terri H — 19 Feb 2009
It's been so long since I saw this, I wanted to check it out again. I forgot how good Sally Field is in this, it's a deserved Oscar win (though that song shouldn't have won, it should've gone to The Rose).
It's the usual story of the workers trying to beat the system, but it's well structured and told, it's always entertaining. And luckily the side story (or rather, the personal life) doesn't really get in the way, or at least seem like it was just thrown in there to fill up space.
The rest of the cast is good as well, especially Ron Leibman as the union guy.
