Several days later, I still don't entirely know what to make of this; there are a lot of elements at play and not everything works. Some of the content is so pretentious that it made me want to laugh out loud, which I doubt is the desired reaction, and I wish that the movie gave Adams more to do than read in hipster glasses or quietly look glamorous.

But I enjoyed the ambitious and complex structure, and while the story within the story is plagued with minor plot and dialogue issues, it is gripping and features terrific performances by Shannon and Taylor-Johnson.
