Review of Nocturnal Animals (2016) by Brendan N — 04 Jun 2017
It's an intense directorial style and it won't appeal to every cinema fan. The film has everything going for it, great atmosphere, stylishly grim and a strong cast of method actors. It's easy to see why the stars were attracted to such an out there film, I can't remember a thriller being this interesting.
The film is like literature for cinema and if you can't grasp onto it, you just never will. The pacing is very slow and purposely built to enhance the stories slow build thriller. The fictional story is very simplistic but is the backbone of the film, if you didn't have such an impressive distraction this film would grow very self indulgent.
A very strong cast saves a stylish indie film disguised as a Hollywood thriller. 05-06-2017.
