Review of Nobody (2021) by Migdalorguy — 22 Jan 2022
Nobody" was a surprise. I'm not a particular fan of movies with violent content (it's not that I don't enjoy them, I'm just a head-turner who isn't a fan of gore. "Alien" or "Silence of the Lambs" I can tolerate.
Slasher films, truly gory horror films, not so much.) As a thriller, "Nobody" certainly has its share of violence, blood, killing, etc. but I didn't find myself turning away from the screen so much (perhaps I'm growing more tolerant as I age into my senior years.
) It starts out appearing to be a vigilante justice story, but is quickly revealed to be something else entirely. No spoilers here. The fight choreography is really quite brilliant and eloquent, despite being strongly violent.
The story and the action flow along quite quickly for the most part, and it has the feel of a well-assembled series of directorial/editing steps that push the story along at just the right pace. I have never watched "Breaking Bad" or "Better Call Saul" so I only know Odenkirk's work from all his minor tv roles dating back to his time at SNL.
and then HBO's "Mr. Show." Odenkirk certainly captured just the right portrayal of the protagonist in "Nobody.
