Review of Nobody (2021) by Lambo442 — 07 Jul 2021
This film is just one big glorification of extreme violence, with 2D bad guys that are just there to be hated upon and killed by our likeable but also insanely violent protagonist. But he looks kind of friendly and has lied his way into a loving relationship because he craves redemption, aww.
However his wife isn't giving him any so he may as well go back to battering drunks on the bus and take up his old hobby of slaying Russian gangsters. It's a good job his wife is on board with the whole thing and goes willingly into the basement with their two children while he kills people.
True love is so unconditional. Add a thumping soundtrack and the plot from John Wick and you have a winner. I watched the whole thing and it entertained me because the action is well filmed and the pacing is ok, but there's nothing at all that inspirational or moving, it's really just gratuitous violence for the sake of it with no substance.
Pretty much like John Wick. Loads of it doesn't even make sense. He throws away his new identity to beat up some thugs on a bus, when actually they haven't even assaulted anyone? And a geriatric Christopher Lloyd blowing people away with a shotgun? Come on.
He made himself into a joke. That just made the film seem farcical. None of these gangsters can even shoot straight. It's so unbelievable.
