Russell Crowe gives a fantastic performance and there were some good special effects (certainly not the opening monologue or the Watchers). That being said I felt like the subtext/commentary of the entire movie was a jumble of ideas that had trouble meshing.
As if Aronofsky wanted to touch on everything. Philosophy, religion, ethics, the environment etc. The movie was too long and way too overdone with social commentary.
