It's what an epic ought to be. Aronofsky takes the biblical tale and puts more of a fantasy spin on things. What could've easily been a preachy and overdrawn movie for bible bashers has turned into something rather fun and adventurous.
So ambitious to begin with, it's quite relieving that it all works.
