Review of No One Lives (2013) by Tom R — 29 Aug 2013
(4 Stars) I'm legitimately shocked with how much I like No One Lives. Its story is so unpredictable, shocking, and WTF and I had no clue how it was going to end. Its gore and deaths are sick and creative... this from a WWE Studios film. I really like director Ryuhei Kitamura and his Sam Raimi-esque direction and how he deals with gore; he does some really insane stuff in this movie. The majority of the blood and guts are all practical.
I admit, some of the violence can seem overly morose, but then I realize how ridiculous this movie is. A lot of the characters aren't really likable, but that's kind of the point. I don't know how many people are going to like this movie like I did, but I hope the horror fans at least try out No One Lives.
