Review of No One Killed Jessica (2011) by Rohit S — 07 Jan 2011
Watched the movie today. The storyline is already predetermined as the movie is based on real events i.e Jessica Lal Murder Case. The movie succeeds in eliciting a euphoric feeling when truth wins over the lie.
However Rani Mukherji plays a journalist who seems to be driven by glamour and personal goals rather than for unslanted journalism. The journalism shown here is more slanted towards the goals of creating news rather than getting Justice for Jessica Lal.
Viewers should also know that the sting operation that proved that witnesses were tampered by actually done by Tehelka rather than NDTV. Viewers should also note that the timing of the events i.e acquittal of the accused , the sting operation and the public movement " Justice for Jessica" did not happen in the same sequence as shown.
The event that bolstered the public opinion in this case was a video clip of Manu Sharma smiling after he was acquitted. This unanimously brought the public uproar in a unified manner on the forefront.
Overall the movie is a good watch , not an excellent movie though.
