Review of No Holds Barred (1989) by Robert B — 10 Nov 2008
This movie starring Hulk Hogan is also crap. But at least this movie is entertaining in its crappiness. It really makes no sense on any level. But, hey, what do you expect with Exec. Producers of Hogan and Vince McMahon.
I can never figure why they didn't let Hogan be Hogan in this movie, instead of the rather dumb moniker of Rip. I think it was just to get that stupid hand gesture some screen time. Hogan still can't act, but luckily in his movies, neither can anybody else, and the serious actors have to overact to the point of utter insanity(Kurt Fuller).
Do gotta love the Jock Ass insult that he busts out like 30 times, and the totally original title of Battle of the Tough Guys. Please tell that whoever wrote this movie spent less then 10 seconds thinking of that.
But with Hogan giving the Double Axe Handle of Mass Destruction, him weeping at brother Randy's bedside, and him just emerging from the a limo, there is plenty to enjoy in this movie. From a non-serious standpoint that is.
