Review of No Escape (2015) by David T — 25 Aug 2015
I got a free pass to see this movie. I would give this another half star if I could-.
Pros: Owen Wilson is likable and works as a Dad in a serious movie. Action (with the exception to one key scene) is well done, and there is plenty of it-.
Cons: Waaay too many close calls where everything around them is getting destroyed and they manage to get out just in the nick of time. I allow 3 eye rolls per movie and I think I rolled my eyes 5 or 6 times.
I don't want to give away anything and while Lake Bell holds her own for most of the movie, wow, her big dramatic ravage scene near the end of the film was shot really clumsy. This actually got a very big laugh in the Theater. Not what the director was going for. Also Pierce Bronson's character was much too convenient to the story. Great actors in a much too contrived screenplay-.
