Review of Nine Dead (2010) by Matthew L — 17 Sep 2010
I thought 9 Dead was going to be a Saw ripoff (and it did have nuances of Saw 5 - where everyone was connected and they had to work together). I enjoy films that are confined like this (i.e. Exam was a great one), but the crux of a film like that is that the character development has to be very strong, which is where I thought it was lacking, luckily I like a good mystery unfolding, so it gained points in that department.
MJH being in the film was a little hilarious, but it wasn't too novel to distract. I heard the film is sort of a ripoff of a film from 2005 called House of 9, which I will watch at some point, but I liked the dynamics of the film for the most part, it was fun, but the ending was TERRIBLE, so I say 3 stars based on 1 being taken away for the ending and the other for just sort of character development, otherwise a decent thriller flick that surprised me.
(9/18/10).
