Ok, I admit, Nim's Island probably wasnt geared toward me or my demographic, but, I can't imagine how it could be a movie that would be good for the entire family. If you're under the age of 8 - I think you'll enjoy it.
..parents, beware - you wont! Its just plain silly and even lacks one iota of believability in the first place. I expect better out of Jodie Foster and Abagail Breslin. Better luck next time -- skip it.
Check out Swiss Family Robinson instead.
