Review of Nim's Island (2008) by Roxanne R — 16 Oct 2010
I few clarifications are in order before I proceed with this review:
1- Film format is Blu-ray.
2- I was looking at reviews of top blu-ray films to enjoy on a big LED TV and NIMS ISLAND was selected due to the video/cinematography.
Hopefully this explains why I chose to watch it since it is clearly a film targeted at 8-15 year olds primarily. Nevertheless I must say the visuals were very nice, watching it in blu-ray was awesome. Story revolves around a lovely smart girl named NIM (Abigail Breslin) who lives on a remote tropical island with her scientist father (Gerard Butler) and her beloved animal pals (a sea lion and an iguana)- cute! When her father gets lost at sea and the island is invaded by tourists, Nim reaches out via e-mail to her favorite adventure book author named Alex Rover (Jodie Foster). Unknown to Nim is that Alex Rover is NOT a man, but the name of Alexandra Rover. Together each one of them discovers what it takes to be the hero of your own story! Good, simple, family film-Recommended!
