Review of Nim's Island (2008) by Alison O — 27 Nov 2011
A family adventure film that evokes memories of Romancing the Stone (female writer of adventure novels starring a swarthy hunk gets caught up in an adventure herself) this is an above average offering.
A father and daughter live on an isolated island off New Zealand, but when the Dad goes missing on a research trip out to sea, his young child strikes up an email correspondence with the said scribe. Sun-drenched and well-paced, this is a cracking yarn that warms the cockles.
