Review of Nim's Island (2008) by Emily S — 22 Jun 2012
I think I had heard of this movie and then just as quickly brushed it off. But this charmer of a family film is very easy to watch. Foster is gold as she brings comedic timing and energy to the adventure of protecting the island home of Nim and her dad, Jack.
Breslin doesn't give the performance of a lifetime but she doesn't have too. This isn't a deep look into the human psyche or Lawrence of Arabia, it's a dispel your disbelief and come with us to a land of buccaneers, friendly island animals, and a father who loves his daughter and an adventure writer who has never had an adventure.
It's not a must see but if you want to escape with some wit and fun then watch Nim's Island and your life will be a little lighter for an hour and a half.
