Probably the grittiest, sweariest film ever made, Nil By Mouth is dark, depressing but strangely beautiful. Kathy Burke is incredible as a long-suffering, abused wife struggling to cope with Ray Winstone, her monster of a husband.
The acting is sheer class and the characters (despite their faults) endearing in one way or another. Gary Oldman chould direct more films.
