Review of Nil by Mouth (1997) by Ian S — 18 Jan 2009
Stars Kathy Burke and Ray Winstone in a depressing tale from the underbelly of the working class England. Portrays the lives of an utterly disfunctional family whose members abuse each other both verbally and physically and struggle to survive an existance involving crime, drugs, unemployment, welfare and grim tenement block accomodation.
Gary Oldman, an actor few can rival, here shows his equal talent for directing. Extremely hard to watch but totally mesmerising.
