Review of Nights of Cabiria (1957) by Daniel S — 31 Mar 2011
Giulietta Masina hits another one out of the park, playing a completely different character from the slow girl in La Strada. Here she is spunky and restless, fighting back against her male oppressors but ultimately drawn to find innocence and love in a world that keeps dealing her blows.
I enjoyed this one a lot - Masina is so endearing, funny, and endlessly expressive; and the movie on the whole is heartbreaking though not ruthlessly depressing.
