Review of Nights of Cabiria (1957) by Andy K — 05 Feb 2008
Fellini has made so many outright masterpieces it sickens me. Nights of Cabiria is Fellini's final neo-realist or "normal" film before he embarked on La Dolce Vita and 8 1/2, and Cabiria is Fellini's greatest "normal" film.
An incredible character study of a young prostitute, searching for love in a world that has betrayed her for her entire life. Giulietta Masina proves to be an incredible actress with a performance that should be listed as one of the greatest put on celluloid.
She is Cabiria. The ending is unbelievably perfect and cannot be described. Just Watch it now. Do yourself a favor.
