Review of Nights of Cabiria (1957) by Gregory D — 13 Nov 2009
One of the most devastating films I've experienced. Fellini shows off his neo-realist setting and the characters are all very grounded in that world but everything that happens is so absurd. It's another Fellini carnival where there are many comedic scenes, and oddities populating the screen but the emotion is raw.
Cabiria's character is so real and naive that the hypnotist's show scene and the finally are emotionally crushing.
