Review of Nights of Cabiria (1957) by Kane T — 10 Jul 2010
(4 out of 5 Stars) Arguably one of the original "Prostitute w/ the heart of gold" stories, this 1957 film really gets you caring for the main character -- something that was unexpected with the naive and sterile white-washing of the Italian underground into something safe and happy-go-lucky.
It takes its time letting you get into the naive romantic who masks herself with cynical, ungrateful, and downright nasty behavior, but it's worth it.
