Review of Nights in Rodanthe (2008) by Catherine S — 22 Jan 2010
Not a bad attampt, but the film didn't have the emotional impact I was holding out for.Don't get me wrong the storyline still has that bitter-sweetness that links all films based on Nicholas Sparks novels, but I was expecting more. In short I was expecting to cry. Although the book itself was not my favourite written by Sparks, it still had my blabbering like a baby towatds the end - the film however missed that final emotional punch. That said the landscape showed of the beautiful Carolina scenery, the set of the inn was fantastic and I did think Diana Lane and Richard Gere put in brilliant performances. I also loved the music and soundtrack to the film. I thought that went a long way to setting the scene and envoking the right kind of mood.
Maybe in the end the reason I felt a little let down was due to expecting too much, but I could have spent a worse hour and a half.
