Review of Nightingale (2014) by Kim M — 29 May 2015
I'm usually a big fan of single-character dramas and Nightingale is no exception. David Oyelowo is absolutely dynamite as our lone star, who is teeter tottering atop the brink of sanity the entire time, and yet Oyelowo is able to simultaneously tap into his humanity as well to make it resonate even more.
The plot development isn't anything novel, borrowing from a number of various sources, but the real fate of Nightingale hinges on Oyelowo's believability, and for the second time this year (following Selma), he commands every second.
